I’ve been in a lot of fucked up situations in my life, too many to count, really. I pride myself on the fact that not much shocks me in this world. I’ve seen it all, I’ve been through it all. I’m as durable and gritty as sandpaper. Okay, maybe that’s not the best metaphor, but you get what I mean.

The point is-- this particular love triangle—wait—it’s not a love triangle. What would we even call it? Whatever it is, it’s a mess. This situation takes the cake.

It’s ridiculous to even think about. I’m lusting after two different women, but that’s not the only insane part. The two women I’m pining also have it bad for each other—but they won’t admit it out loud to anyone, not even to themselves. I’m caught in the middle somewhere.

No one knows anything because no one is talking about the obvious. No one is brave enough to open the can of worms and address the conversation. We need to talk, but where do we start?

Honestly, it bugs the hell out of me, but this irritation is starting to fester and it’s not productive, nor is it healthy for me.

So, after a rough and passionate sex session with Dylan, I’m a paradox of emotions. I’m exhausted, but if I can’t solve this lovers’ game now, I can’t relax, either. I realize that I’m part of the problem because I don’t really feel like it’s my place to analyze Natalia and Dylan’s relationship until I figure out where I fall into the mix.

I walk downstairs and toward the kitchen. My goal is to get more of that amazing lemonade that Natalia had made earlier out of the fridge and guzzle it down, but I see her in the back garden sitting in the grass, facing away from the house with her back toward it.

I forget about the lemonade and wander outside, curious about what she might be doing out there. Her long brown hair gently flutters in the breeze. Her legs are crossed, and her hands are perfectly perched atop each knee.

“Natalia?” I ask quietly.

She stiffens and wipes her cheek with the back of her hand as if she’s been crying, but I have yet to see her face. She clears her throat and slowly swivels to face me, but I sit down next to her before she can stand up and dodge me by giving me some lame excuse that she has to get back to cleaning or something.

“Is everything… okay?”

“Yes,” she squeaks.

Yeah, right.

I don’t know what’s wrong with her, but if I were to guess, it’s going to be like pulling teeth to pry it out of her. She’s not exactly forthcoming about—well, anything, really.

I see how vulnerable she is. Her golden skin shines in the sunlight and I bask in her beauty. It’s baffling to me that I'm attracted to two women who are as different as night and day. Dylan and Natalia are complete opposites, yet I’m drawn to both, and see inspirational qualities in both of them.
